This is one of those rare picture books that makes you stop and think long after the last page. My son asked for it every night for two weeks straight, and the message about kindness outshining money really landed with him. The illustrations have that signature Kitamura charm, too.

My daughter and I read this together every night — the illustrations in the Kate Greenaway-nominated picture book are so expressive, they spark conversations about kindness we wouldn't have otherwise. It's rare to find a children's book that feels this meaningful without being preachy.

My three-year-old keeps asking for "the kindness book" every night, and the way Kitamura handles the message about money versus generosity really clicks with her. The pages are sturdy enough for toddler hands, and the text is short but meaningful.
